The AP reports that Ike Turner, legendary musician and half of "Ike & Tina Turner", died at his home in southern California yesterday. Cause of death has not been released.

Ike was credited with releasing the first rock-n-roll record in 1951: "Rocket 88". In the 1960s & 1970s, Ike had a string of hits with wife Tina Turner, including "River Deep, Mountain Wide", "I Want to Take You Higher", and, of course, "Proud Mary".
