RIAA gets Does' names after school threatened with contempt
Filed under: RIAA News

Hours after a federal court judge ordered Oklahoma State University to show cause why it shouldn't be held in contempt for failing to respond to an RIAA subpoena, attorneys for the school e-mailed a list of students' names to the RIAA's attorneys. But now that the RIAA has what it wanted, the group is unsure about how to go about sending out its prelitigation settlement letters. Some of the students are represented by an attorney, meaning that the RIAA is barred from contacting them directly.

Check 'em out: Legendary Shack Shakers

I had the pleasure a couple weeks ago to see the 'Legendary Shack Shakers' at a local bar here in Bakersfield, CA.  If you like a mix of rock, punk, country, and blues this is the band to check out. The front man reminded me of Iggy Pop.

Enjoy!

20 Questions with Tonya Kay

Filed under: Artists At the Edge

It's probably fair to say that Tonya Kay is currently best known for her
appearance as "Creature" on the TV show "Who Wants to be a Super Hero"
(Sci-Fi Network) or NBC's "America's Got Talent". Or perhaps it's due to
3 years with STOMP or touring as a dancer with Panic at the Disco. Or
maybe it's the recent appearance in the Trace Adkins music video for his
song "I Got My Game On" or in the Progressive Auto Insurance TV
commercials as a gremlin.

The Pirate Bay hits 10,000,000 peers.

The Pirate Bay has announced that it broke an impressive milestone recently: 10,000,000 peers online sharing over 1,000,000 torrents. Now, that's a lot of porn and music, but be assured that no small percentage of it was legitimate software. As Slyck mentions, to put these numbers in perspective, TPB's home country of Sweden has a total of 8.1 million people.

Also of interest is that eDonkey2000 & FastTrack topped out at less than half of TPB's though it's difficult to estimate the population of Gnutella, though it is undoubtably higher than eDonkey & FastTrack.
