Sloncek, in an answer to Slyck.com about
the closure, said, suprnova.org was more like a hobby that took most
of my free time away. And now with current situation, theres too much
pressure and I dont have the time for it. However, within 12 hours, eXeem was being punted with links to the eXeem project site, and this led to recriminations in the p2p communities that money was the motive for Slonceks move. eXeem was a
notorious application that had Cydoor ad-ware/spyware bundled to it.
This contributed to the failure of an application Sloncek had hoped
would succeed. Many in the p2p community
will long remember the sellout of suprnova.org. Whether this was a
sellout or merely someone who saw an opportunity is debatable. Well the news is this: according to Sloncek. he's resurrected the site. Do
you still remember those good old days, when you came to SuprNova.org,
just because you did not have anything to do and you knew you would
find something of your interest there?" - he posts here. "Then, I must say I have good news and a bad news. Well it's mostly good news, and I will get right to the point... "First
the bad news. SuprNova.org will not return in it's old form like we
used to know it a year ago. Those days of SuprNova.org are over
forever, incase anybody did not know that yet. The good news is that
SuprNova.org will return, just in a different form. From now on,
SuprNova.org will focus on the P2P world. SuprNova
II will focus on the world of p2p, says Sloncek, pointing out that he's
created a new forum with, at the time of writing, 421 members. And in a spirit of reconciliation, he has this to say: This
time around I plan on correcting the image of me that got a bit broken
with my previous actions. A lot of you got a bad impression of me after
SuprNova.org closed. I would like to say, my intentions were never to
do something bad for the community although some of you thought like
that. I am sorry for that and I will correct it. I was able to to contact Sloncek with a few questions. His answers were short, but to the point. p2pnet.net: Suprnova.org
was a big dump site. It was probably the biggest on the Web. Why did
you shut down the site and go the way of eXeem? Sloncek: The
site was shut down because I did not want to run it anymore. I will not
reveal further details on it. I went on with eXeem, because i thought
it could bring something better to P2P... p2pnet.net: eXeem was not quite the success that you hoped? What do you think contributed to this? Sloncek: eXeem was not a success because of a wrong marketing and ad-ware in the program. p2pnet: Why did you decide to go the route of adding ad-ware to eXeem? Sloncek: Because the costs of the development were so high. p2pnet: What do you hope to achieve with the rebirth of suprnova.org? Sloncek: I
hope to build the community that there used to be once... Also, my wish
is to make a complete portal of everything regarding P2P... Maybe
something else too... Depends were users will lead me. This time
around, we do it like users say. p2pnet: You are sounding very reconciliatory on suprnova.org. What would you like to say to the p2p community out there? Sloncek: Well,
I'd like to say that regarding what they think how bad of a person I
am, my intentions were always good. I never meant to hurt the community
even if they thought so. p2pnet: Finally,
what do you see in the future of p2p. Which direction do you think the
entire file sharing environment is going to move? Sloncek: I
think that the whole entertainment is going to switch to file sharing
and change it in to more Pay Per Download or whatever.... Only time will tell as to whether or not suprnova.org will become a success or not. But a lot of people within the p2p community felt hard done by over the manner in which suprnova.org closed. Memories linger. Loki Torrent anyone? Add your comment
