I had the opportunity to speak to Stephen recently. Check it out: === http://members.aol.com/hungerzero/index.html 1) What is the AHN and what is it's purpose?>. The 1 of 52 Artiust Hunger Network is a grassroots network of local and national artists who take action annually to help end hunger. Its purpose is to bring funding and attention to existing hunger agencies such as second harvest and their national network of food banks who have the capability of ending hunger daily and in the long term - if properly funded and paid the right attention. 2) Is hunger really a problem in the US anymore?>. Anymore? its actually worse in many ways than it has been in the past. we are now seeing more and more of the 'working poor'. families who have been taken off welfare or who have chosen to make their own way, work hard, and still cannot manage to pay all that is required in society and still have enough left to feed their families properly. Its called the 'heat or eat' syndrome. 3) What plans does the AHN have to deal with hunger? We plan to have strong enough organization that can not/will not be ignored with enough influential artists all saying the same thing, all bring attention and funding to the solutions of ending hunger through their direct actions... all the while inspiring a ground swell of public awareness and involvement alomg the way. 4) Who else is involved with your organization? Feinsteinfoundation.org, RIFoodbank.org, Local sponsors Buckley Oil Company, Phoenix Media Group, Softwindmusic.com, The Rock N' Roll Ranch Over 200 artists in 13 states plus Washington DC (See artists roster at Artist Hunger Network http://members.aol.com/hungerzero 5) Is the AHN going to expand to the international arena? There's no reason why not. the concept is so simple as to immediately translate into any area. I haven't put a big push on in this area. Instead hoping to 1st make/have a major impact on domestic hunger. Though I think its inevitable that international artists may start finding me before I start reaching out to them. 6) What can our readers do to help? One simple way to help is to visit helpthehungry.org Help the Hungry and ask others to do so. Just for visiting this site, philanthropist, and 1 of 52 AHN member, Alan Shawn Feinstein will donate 1 dollar, up to 1 million dollars to hunger agencies nationwide. One there, they can go to the links section and link through to our site and learn of other ways to become involved. If readers are artists, they can visit our site and join our jrowing national roster. If they know artists, they can turn them on to our concept and network. === Thanx, Stephen! Now, I urge every band on TinFoil Music to surf over to Stephen's site to check it out. Sign up TODAY!!! Add your comment
