I had a chance to ask Trent (guitarist) from the Headstones a few questions. Here's what he had to say, Me: Do you have any movie appearences coming up?Trent: Hugh and the band seems to be a part of Bruce Macdonald's stable of performers, so we'll see what he's up to next. otherwise, no. Me: What's the craziest thing that's happened before or at a show? Trent : Touring with the Unband the past month was all crazy. They got onstage with us a couple of times to jam on some songs, that always turned out to be total chaos - it was what rock and roll was meant to be. Trent: Maybe Above Ground Swimming Pools Me: How have you guys been received in the United States? Trent: Warmly, by a dedicated few. Me: If you could play any of your shows again which one would it be? Trent : Maybe the one when Tim got his head smashed by a mic stand and we had to stop the show and take him to a hospital. Me: What influences you when you write songs? Trent: We're always trying to challenge ourselves to write something original. We're not content to write something that may sound like something else - like lots of bands do these days. Me: What is your favourite Headstones song to play? Trent: We have few that we extend and jam on like Unsound, Smile And Wave and Oh My God. Not knowing what's going to happen next is the most fun. Me: What advice do you have for new bands just starting out? Trent: Be smart. Keep at it. Keep writing songs. Me: Do you ever get tired of being on the road? Trent: No, I love the road. Me: Where do you see The Headstones in 5 years from now? Trent: Broken up, bitter and jaded, or else happy and content - it could go either way... Me: What do you think on the whole Napster situation? Trent: I use Napster. People just better continue to buy records or the bands they like will slowly dissappear Me: If you could open for any band which one would it be? Trent: The Who, circa 1969. Me: You've had alot of different opening bands. Which one would be your favourite? Trent: The Unband. Me: Have you ever played any pranks on any of the other band members while on the road? Trent: You mean besides taping up the soundman while he was asleep? Or dragging the merch guy out of his bunk in the middle of the night and giving him the beats? No. Me: When on "vacation" from the band what do you enjoy doing? Trent: I'm a bit of a computer/playstation junky.
