You wanna Rock. We all wanna rock. That is why I called Dee Snider. And he answered. You know Dee Snider from many places around the music and film industry. Dee hosts THE HOUSE OF HAIR, which is a radio show billed as a journey back to old-school, lipstick & leather rock'n'roll! You know Dee from his movie STRANGELAND. The New York Post offered this critique of the film: "Snider is the screen writer from hell! He is one sick pup! If this is an example of what is going on in his mind, he should be forced to have a labotomy." And you know Dee from that band called Twisted Sister (you know Dee from his other worthy bands and solo works, too). Ahhhhh, Twisted Sister. Many of us remember those killer videos.... Dee was an MTV video star, mixing good natured humor and metal into memorable classic videos. He was a dragon slayer- a sonic knight locked in mortal combat with ye olde beast called the PMRC. He has gone from Tipper Gore to Stranglands Gore, and he still simply just wants to rock. To mix things up from my usual ROCK VOX format, I played a game of word association with Mr. Snider to tap his innermost thoughts: I say PMRC, you say_______________ ? Idiots! They were so caught up in the media attention they were getting,they didn't even do their homework. This allowed me to blindside them with my testimony before the Senate. I say Twisted Sister, you say__________. Underated. The masses don't know how long the band was together (ten years), how hard we struggled (8 years until the band broke), how much we played (over 2,000 live shows before we were signed) and how influencial we were. We were such a staple in the Tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) club scene that Anthrax, Poison, Bon Jovi, Overkill, Public Enemy, Cinderella and so many more, cut their teeth watching TS kick ass in the bars. Hell--one of Metallica's first shows was opening for Twisted in front of a couple of thousand of our fans in New Jersey! I say side projects and synergy and you say_____________. Responsible for my resurgeance. I had no idea how all the things I'm doing and have done would feed into each other. I say House of Hair aint available on any radio station near me and you say__________. Do something about it. In it's seventh year, it's at 160 stations and growing. Let your local station know that you want to join Dee's party. I say tour and you say___________. Hell no! I've done my time. I don't miss the road. This isn't saying that there's no way you'll ever see me out there, but I don't see any real touring in my future. I prefer one offs and short runs. I say early musical influences and you say___________. Beatles, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, Judas Priest. I say SMF and you say________. Once a sick mutha fucker, always a sick mutha fucker! I say Nu-metal and you say______________. Love a lot of it. Don't know what my parents did wrong (or right), but at 49 I still get a thrill out of thunderous drums, booming bass, a roaring guitar and a screaming vocalist, no matter how old or new it is. I say Dee for President and you say______________. Not in this life time. I'd make a great one--but politics is for scumbags, which I am not. I say Turn it down! and you say_______________.
