Bob Seger - the man who brought us hits like "Turn the Page", "Night Moves", "Hollywood Nights", "Roll Me Away", "Old Time Rock-n-Roll", "Like a Rock", and so many more, from albums like "Stranger in Town", "Against the Wind", and the classic "Live Bullet" - has re-released his 1972 album, "Smokin' O.P.S.". The CD (the title means "smokin' other people's songs") is a shocking but rocking collection of cover tunes and demonstrates Seger to be not only a fabulous song-writer & performer, but also a great interpreter with a kick-ass band! It also demonstrates Bob to be responsive to his fans' desires: The CD was released due to public demand after his fans kept his "Greatest Hits" CD on the Billboard charts for an unbelievable 550+ weeks! That's since 1994, cowboy.

Opening with Bo Diddley's classic "Bo Diddley", which features the famous Bo Diddley Beat, and followed by Stephen Stills "Love the One You're With" and the classic "If I Were a Carpenter", Seger hits the ground running.

Seger cruises through the Leon Russell tune "Hummin' Bird" and slams into a red-hot rendition of "Let it Rock", followed by "Turn on You Love Light" and "Jesse James" to finish off the covers.

The last two tracks on the disc are originals: "Someday", a quiet and somber piece, and his classic hard-rockin' "Heavy Music".

Bottom line: Great music from an American icon!
