The show opens with John Petrucci, who performs "Glasgow Kiss" and "Damage Control" from his new solo release "Suspended Animation". As always, Petrucci's technique is flawless and his delivery passionate, and the new songs are among John's best work ever. If you haven't hear Petrucci before, these two songs will make a believer out of you! Steve Vai hits the stage next and explodes into his classic "The Audience is Listening", then moves into 2 songs ("Building the Church" and "K'm-Pee-Du-Wee")from his latest release "Real Illusions". Vai is mesmerizing with his inhuman display of virtuosity and originality. You can read a review of "Real Illusions" here at Tinfoil Music. Next, Satch hits the stage swinging with "Up in Flames" followed by the beautiful "Searching" and "War"....and speaks a bit of Japanese for added flair. Satriani delivers the goods in spades, as expected, with a dizzying display of 6-string pyrotechnics. Finally, Satriani is joined on stage by Vai & Petrucci and they leap into the Jimi Hendrix classic "Foxey Lady", trading insane licks and smiling ear to ear. They follow that up with ZZ Top's "La Grange" and Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water". For guitar lovers this DVD is a must, but it's also quite entertaining for general fans of music.
