Opening with electronica & spoken word, the debut disc from Michael Sanders & One Tribe Nation quickly leaps into burning guitar and funky grooves with "Esoterica". Mixing Latin groves with funk, jazz, and rock elements - and one mean guitar, care of Michael Sanders - One Tribe Nation takes the fusion of Santana influenced bands to the next level of excellence.
While the CD features some impressive guest artists (Luis Conde of Eric Clapton & Madonna fame, for example, and Rolling Stones back-up singer Bernard Fowler), the meat & potatoes here is clearly the vision of Michael Sanders.
"Servents of a Lesser God" features both vocal and instrumental tracks, with the latter giving ample space to the musicians to breath added life into the songs. "One Trick Pony", for exanmple, has incredible guitar & piano lines, kickin' hand-drum breaks, and complex & interesting composition & sonic bits throughout. "Amigos Del Diablo" mixes odd meters and traditional Latin instrumentations with bursts of surprising guitar harmonies and infectious grooves.
It will be interesting to watch this band develop in the years to come. Get this CD now and join the journey!
