Copyright Reform Within The Modern Global Economy

Within the context of a most delightful conversation with a fellow colleague I was asked to compose an opinion of copyright reform, mainly along the lines (No Pun Here) of downloading music. Wow!

First copyright is different for each society/economic/government system in place. Sure copyright is some exclusive legal right to reproduce tangible/intangible forms/ideas within the rules of the agreed upon within the established society.

Music within societies is more than just a science/art of mathmatical tones/notes of unity and continuity, it is an expression of the human earth, the individual essence, mind and body in formulation.

Alvin Lee said, "I would like to change the world, but I don't know what to do, so I leave it up to you." Say Alvin let's not cop out, you still receive your dues thanks to ASCAP. It is all about the money for a product. Money for goods and services, a fifty thousand year old concept. I think we are adapted to it?

Personally, I purchase MUSIC from physical retail outlets and electronic outlets such as Napster and MP3 University because I will not expect a lawsuit in the future, as many individuals and State Universitys now deserve. With the current electronic media, those that view MUSIC as private and public material have resorted to the executive, legislative, and judicial soap boxes for their means. To resolve the quagmire one should read the following material: Free To Choose (Dr. Friedman), The Politics Of Location (Dr. Kirby), Issues In Science And Religion (Dr. Barbour), Survival And Growth (Dr. Lindberg), The Rise Of The Meritocracy (Dr. Young).

So, the basic conclusion, if your music (you made it) is free so be it, if not, sell it. Always remember, the society in place, just or not, determines the worth/cost/market price of each and every commodity.
