The HDD1630 is a 6GB player, the 6630 a 30GB one (supposed successor to the hdd120, about time). Both of them have this backlit touch strip thingy [tinfoil -- nice to see you are using the proper technical terminology and not just dumbing down your review for the uneducated masses -- ed.], a nice (bit small in appearance) color screen that allows picture browsing (slideshows accompanied by music as well) and album art and the usual set of Philips stuff - SuperScroll, ID3 library-type'o'browsing and playlists-on-the-go. Battery life is far from skimpy, theoretically speaking: 15 hours max for the HDD6330 and 18 hours for the HDD6130 (speed charging up to 70% battery capacity in one hour supported) -- that oughta do for most of us. There's also an integrated FM tuner in there, as well as a voice recorder. PlayForSure compatibility is included in the package deal. Seems like there are a couple of accessories worth mentioning too: a splash-proof case with "integrated control pad", plus a docking station that can act as a recharge, AV-out (tv and audio) and data transfer (USB2.0) base. It also comes with a remote control. Not sure if these things support USB-Host, but the press release mentions "GoGear mini-USB camera cable to download pics from a digital camera", so there you go. The GoGear HDD6330 and HDD1630 will be available in October 2005 and will have a suggested retail price of $299 and $199 respectively. (ok, that was a copy/paste line). Update: more info found over at PcMag. "The 30GB HDD6330 will have dedicated buttons for controlling music during slide shows, as well as a USB "On the Go" port for directly connecting a camera or other USB storage device. It will also have a 2-inch 16-bit color LCD, measure 2.52 by 4.09 by 0.66 inches (roughly iPod-size), and weigh 5.3 ounces. Also included in the 30GB model is a TV output so you can watch your slide shows without squinting at the 2-inch screen. The 6GB HDD1630 measures 2.11 by 3.39 by 0.64 inches (you guessed it--approximately the size of an iPod mini) and weighs about 3.1 ounces. The screen is a bit smaller too, at 1.5 inches, but unlike the iPod mini, it is a color screen and the device will support photo viewing. You can view slide shows with music, but unlike with the larger model, you can't control the music during a slide show. Battery life is rated at 18 hours. An optional audio-only dock will be available for the HDD1630 and since the device has no TV output on it, you'll be out of luck if you want to watch slideshows on a big screen." Add your comment
