The Apple iTunes Music Store is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a free song to download as well as a variety of new features being made available on what they claim is the best digital jukebox with the #1 music download store inside.
iTunes 4.5 adds a variety of new features to the already popular digital music player and is celebrating the new year with a free song to download from the store. Foo Fighter's song 'My Hero' is being sold for $0.00 and is easily found by just clicking on link on Apple's main page.
New features include:
- Party Shuffle - a dynamic playback system that will create you a random playlist from your song library.
- IMix - a feature that allows playlists to be published and rated by other users on the iTunes music store.
- Apple Lossless Encoder - compresses tracks to approximately half the size with no loss of sound quality.
- Printing - iTunes can now print out playlists that are suitable for making CD case inserts. Templates are also provided that can incorporate cover art that is automatically grabbed when songs are purchased in the iTunes store. Multi-album playlists show the album covers in a mosaic. Crop marks are also printed so that you can make sure what you print fits onto your paper properly.
- DRM changes - now you can only burn 7 play lists instead of 10. However, you can have five computers authorized to share downloaded songs which is up from three previously.
- The store also now provides movie trailers and will retain your wish list selections so that they can be purchased later. iTunes is a free download from Apple and is available for both Windows XP/2000 and OS X.
