So I'm getting on today and I get an E-mail from our site owner Tinfoil.  Apparently I'm being an uber slacker and if I don't shape up, I'm going to be taken to Mexico to raise roosters for cock fights.

I'm just kidding.  I'll actually be growing weed to bring back to the US!

Seriously though, I have some stuff that is serious and it shall be written.  But you're going to have to click read more to hear about RPGamer's VGRemix contest (hint: there is free music)...

And for the love of something you'd like to love, COMMENT!!!  Seriously, if you call me a douche (spelled it right this time Tin) I won't care!  I believe there are random insult generators out there.  GO FOR IT!  If I had the money I'd give you a dollar to comment.

In conclusion, click read more for rpgamer's news, Comment, and call me a douche at the minimal.

So yes, news.  RPGamer.com started their Splendid Performance Contest some 7 months ago.  Prizes were promised, so people remade music.  I remember last round there were only four songs.  That was such an easy month for the judges.

This round was different.  The theme was Reborn Meaning,  Meaning, in their own words

"... taking a love song and making it into some rockin' battle music, or a turning a town's theme into a dramatic action score."

First things first;  the winning song sucked ass.  I had the biggest headache after subjecting myself to listen to that garbage.

The two second place songs were good though.  I was kinda wishing Bladitor's Zanarky had taken the gold, but that's probably because I'm biased to the Zanarkand theme from FFX (Final Fantasy 10 for those of you that aren't gamers).
Some very beautiful piano work and the feel of the game is still there.

For the other song, Darangen must have taken the advice of the judges to heart, because this piece is exactly what they asked for: "..a town's theme into a dramatic action score."

Matthew Foster better known by his Screen Name of  "RedBeastMage" , is the Sound Test Curator for the  site and sat in as a judge for the contest.  This song recieved his highest score.   His comments best sum up Darangen's  A Heart's Resolve, remixed from Kingdom Hearts.

"First off, let me say this. Rockin. Oh yea. This piece fits the theme perfectly, taking the calm Traverse Town theme and making it into some crazy battle music. I could defintly see this being in the game itself during a heavy action scene or a battle in Traverse Town. Well put together, the instruments really fit together. The drum work here is easily the best I have ever heard out of Darangen, on top of the already killer guitar."

Not better than Zanarky (IMO), but a good song to rock out to.
