D1 Music Network is looking forward to mentoring at-risk youth in an effort to help inner city kids, as well as all aspiring musicians and aspiring artists, develop careers in the hard to penetrate music-recording industry. The D1 team is loaded with well-known producers and recording artists that will help develop fresh talent, while mentoring the youth they will be working with. D1, on the web at www.d1musicnet.com, feels its presence in the Bay Area is a big win for everyone. While forming ORGY, Jay moved to Los Angeles and like most artists before they get that first big break, struggled initially. D1 intends to do all it can to help musicians get a better understanding of the music business and what it really means to be a recording artist. There is much more to being an artist than just recording a record. First hand experience will be very valuable to those artists involved with, and possibly signed to the D1 family of professionals. Jay states, I wanted to do something that until now hadnt been addressed in the Music-Tech arena. We want to let the kids (okay adults, too) actually decide who and what they want to listen to; let them be the A&R people and listen to what they have to say about music for a change. That's who I do this for. After all, it's the young people of the world that start the trends and come up with the new lingo. Let's bring it all together via a no nonsense interface that doesn't bore the pants off of people, as most sites do, and check out what every teenager or adult has to say. Then let's throw in a youth operated Internet radio station that the kids take turns programming for D-1 . . . Globally! Let's do it with some form and structure, make it user friendly, and see just what America's new youth movement (brought to you by D1 Music Network) Is really up to. I think every label in the business would, or at least should, be more than eager to get their hands on the results from the online surveys that D-1 will provide on an ongoing basis. This is just a part of what D1 is all about." In addition to exciting promotions including International Battle of the Bands, songwriting contests, tie-ins with sponsors and developing proprietary eCommerce opportunities for members, D1 will offer internship programs like: A&R Program, Journalism Program, DJ Program and Advertising Sales Internships. Current sponsors include: SONAR and MUSICMATCH. D1 is planning a July 2002 web site launch. Just get online and visit us at www.d1musicnet.com for a taste of whats new on the industrial rock and popular music scenes. Become a member of the D1 Music Network. D1 will be a fun online rock-n-roll musical experience and vital new community on the World Wide Web! Add your comment
