A couple of interesting stories from Reuters today. One is a follow-up on the DeCSS case: Jon Johanson (author of DeCSS) has finally won his case! "...Norwegian police said Monday they would not appeal a landmark DVD piracy case for a second time, marking a final victory for a 20-year-old hacker and a defeat for Hollywood...". See the article here.
The other involves a story about a Belgium-based group suing many RIAA member labels over their use of copy-protected discs: "...EMI, Universal Music, Sony Music and BMG have been named in the suit, which is expected to be heard this week in a Belgium court. Warner Music is the only one of the five major music labels not named. The group said it wants the labels to end the practice of issuing protected discs and to reimburse customers..." See the article here.
My hat is off to Jon Johanson's legal team and to Test-Aankoop. Hopefully this will become a trend.
