The folks over at ArsTechnica bring us news of a new study that links data concerning the amount of money spent on CDs per household and the number of households with computers. This data was collected by the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the US and, since the people responding wouldn't necessarily believe that the data they are providing would be used to measure the effects of file-sharing, it wouldn't be a stretch to believe these numbers are fairly accurate.

The study does show that people owning computers have decreased their purchases of CDs by some 13% where people who do not own a computer have only seen only a marginal decrease.

Even more interesting, as Nate points out, is the 19% increase in CDs purchased by people owning a computer in 2001, the year Napster was shut down.

Very interesting, indeed. Read more here.
