PlayLouder MSP (Music Service Provider) has licensed music from a number of UK indie music labels XL Recordings, Beggars Group, V2 Music, PIAS Recordings and Ninja Tune. The service provider has inked a deal with MCPS-PRS, the licensing body that collects royalties on behalf of music publishers. Trials for the service begin November 1st with full operation beginning early next year. PlayMusic director Paul Sanders believes the company will grow to reach roughly 40,000 subscribers paying £30 a month. --- This is an interesting option for legally obtaining music online but it also contributes to what this author sees as a growing problem: fragmentation of online music sales.
