The RIAA filed some 477 more lawsuits today, including 69 against students using school networks to allegedly download illegal music.

The RIAA involved 14 different universities across the U.S.A. to bring lawsuits against the 69 students. Cary Sherman, RIAA President, vows to continue working with schools to educate students with regards to copyright laws.

'Along with offering students legitimate music services, campus-wide educational and technological initiatives are playing a critical role,' Sherman says. 'But there is also a complimentary need for enforcement by copyright owners against the serious offenders to remind people that this activity is illegal.'

This brings the number of lawsuits filed by the RIAA to over 1,500 since January. Many lawsuits are settled out of court for an average of US$3,500.
