Can your software match our results and packaging? Major file sharing software network upgrade increases downloads by a magnitude and comes without bundled software.

DALLAS, USA , January 26, 2005 – RazorPop, Inc. today announced the release of TrustyFiles 2.4 High Performance File Sharing. TrustyFiles issued a challenge to all P2P (Peer to Peer) files sharing users to compare search and download results and packaging. Unlike other P2P software, TrustyFiles doesn't include bundled adware and other annoying and unwanted software.

The TrustyFiles 2.4 update focused on rewriting and tuning the network core for maximum performance. The software is the result of several man-years of development.

"The results speak for themselves," said Marc Freedman, RazorPop founder and CEO. "I queued 100 files for download and consistently had 10-15 video and music files simultaneously downloading for hours. That’s a magnitude beyyond our previous best and the rest of the industry. TrustyFiles truly is High Performance File Sharing software."

RazorPop’s TrustyFiles is the industry’s leading multiple P2P network software. TrustyFiles features simultaneous download of the same file over Kazaa, Gnutella, and Gnutella 2 P2P networks, and the Internet. TrustyFiles searches and downloads hundreds of millions of files over the Kazaa/Fast Track, Gnutella, Gnutella 2, and Bit Torrent P2P file sharing networks.

TrustyFiles is FREE with NO spyware and NO additional bundled software and can be downloaded at http://www.TrustyFiles.com. TrustyFiles is three products in one. With Public File Sharing, search TrustyFiles, Kazaa, Grokster, Morpheus, Limewire, Bearshare, Shareaza, and other Fast Track, Gnutella, Gnutella2 and Bit Torrent network users. Share your favorite files and searches with friends when you run TrustyFiles in Personal File Sharing mode. If you’re a business user or have confidential files, use Private File Sharing to restrict access only to users you invite.

TrustyFiles is a small 1.6MB download. TrustyFiles provides security through an Internet connection blocklist to protect from invasive users and virus scanning support to reject infected files. TrustyFiles High Performance software is optimized for multiple networks and broadband, dialup, and firewalled users. Its advanced P2P engine provides simultaneous searches and downloads with unlimited results and downloads. Other features include global search results, multi-source downloading, partial file downloading, multiple sharing directories, file compression, and support for TrustyLinks, Gnutella Magnet links, Kazaa sig2dat links, and torrent files.

NOTE 3!

As a number of readers have pointed out, there is certainly more than one file-sharing package that does not include bundled adware. Shareaza, for example, includes no advertsising whatsoever. TrustyFiles, atleast in my first basic test, includes no adware but does indeed have advertising within the client itself. Also, when the TrustyFiles client is launched, there is single popup. TrustyFiles seems to be advertising supported whereas Shareaza is open source. Which is better? You decide. I'll post a better comparison shortly.

NOTE 2!

After speaking with the TrustyFiles grand-pubah, he's re-assured me that the software *will* run in XP SP2, but will not run as well as it could, and this likely affects other P2P clients as well:

The TCP outgoin connection limit *IS* a well known property of MS Win XP SP2. MS discloses it at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/sp2netwk.mspx#EHAA . More articles at http://www.winxpcentral.com/windowsxp/xpsp2speed.php and http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497 . Google it and you'll find plenty more articles and other developers who have encountered this problem and various solutions.

TrustyFiles will run fine without the system file update we recommend. But it will run much better with the update. The replacement driver that we provide has been used by hundreds of thousands of customers with no problem. Our instructions provide for proper backup of the original file so you can restore it if needed.[Tin: Please note, this is not the complete email, but it is the most topical parts.]

It is with Marc's assurances that I will install the software and try it out with and without the fix, and compare it to my client of choice.

NOTE!

There is a known issue in this software that makes it incompatable with Windows XP Service Pack 2. The fix advocated by the company involves replacing a very low-level core driver with an older version. I've asked the company for more information regarding this problem, but until such time I do NOT recomend using this software if you have Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Since I have SP2 on both my Windows machines, I can not test the software as I am unwilling to replace this driver. The version that comes with Service Pack 2 addresses some serious security concerns (though it does disable raw sockets, something I don't feel was necessary to disable). More info here.
