| Apple Sued: iTunes is Crippleware |

Apple is the target in a new lawsuit claiming that the company's iTunes, and iPod, are crippled by the company. Specifically pointed out in the lawsuit is the ability of the hardware within the iPod to play certain filetypes that have been disabled by Apple and Apple's refusal to license their AAC digital rights management schemes to other companies, allowing competing products to connect and use the iTunes Music Store. The judge in the case seems to think that the case has merit and has quashed Apple's motion to dismiss. My take? Someone bought themselves a Zune for Christmas only to discover that the music they purchased for their old iPod wouldn't transfer over and they are pissed off, rightly so. Still, I don't think there's much to this case. Source: The Consumerist . Add your comment
